Q I wish you would state to the court, Mr. Baldwin, what your observations were with respect to the stability or unstability of the channel on that portion of the Colorado river that you have become familiar with. A The channel? Q Yes, as to the stability, and when if at all it changes, and at what points and why, if you know. A Well, the channel is very near in the same place all the time, only just after the heavy rains in the fall that come in the side canyons, bringing in the silt, that would change it temporarily, for a week or ten days it would change thereafter channel there; it would eventually get right back in the same channel again. Q Did you observe any change of channel or instability of channels at any place in the river other that at the places at and in the immediate vicinity of places where side washes came in, and on the occasion of floods coming down those side washes? A None to speak of; it was practically the same. Q Now, at those places where side washes are located, and following heavy rains that would bring silt and anything else down into the Colorado, you say that the river in a few |
