Show CHAPTER 5 CONCLUSIONS 5. 1 The Conclusions of this Work GCS provides a complete system for the entering, editing and simulation of Speed-Independent Control-Unit design at the specification level. The system gives a highly interactive and user-friendly environment so the designer can concentrate on his/her design without knowledge of the details of the tool. The objective is to provide a complete graphical system for aiding in the design of a control-unit at the specification level. Descriptions on how the system was built and its features were illustrated. Also, an example of control-unit design was used to demonstrate the menu-driven interface. This work also shows that better perception can be achieved by the graphical display of the design. Furthermore, this graphical display system consists of state boxes and the transition arcs which connect them; therefore giving the designer a clear overview of the behavioral construction of the design while at the same time providing detailed information on the states and transitions (which are hidden behind the abstractions). The GCS supports a nice interface for various kinds menu item for entering the structural information, as well as for the specification of the graphical display.
