Show ABSTRACT This thesis reports on the development and implementation of a graphical front end to ASSASSIN. This menu-driven system runs in a PSL environment, on the Apollo Domain System. There are several tools available to aid the design of integrated circuits (and newer ones are currently being developed). However, with the increasing complexity of integrated circuits, the elevation of design tools to higher levels of abstraction is the only feasible approach. This system demonstrates the advantages of implementing the system in a graphical fashion. With the help of highly interactive, user-friendly features, the designer can easily enter, edit and review his design. Thus, the designer can concentrate on the design wi t hout knowing the details of the design tool. The functional simulator, which was developed in the ASSASSIN system, is also incorporated to form a design aid for the control-unit design at the specification level. |
