A young female specimen of this species, captured in April 1870, at Weymouth, was purchased by Mr. Gerrard of Camden Town, and removed to the dissecting-room of the Zoological Society, where, by permission of the Council and through Professor Flower's kindness, I had the opportunity of dissecting it. With his valuable assistance have I been enabled to make the observations embodied in the following communication. The anatomy of this species has been so fully described in the Monograph of Carte and Macalister * that it will be only necessary to mention certain peculiarities which this specimen presented.
