For instance, during 1901 and 1902, the only years when complete measurements of both Parleys and Big Cottonwood creeks are available, the discharge of Big Cottonwood ( drainage area, 48 square miles) averaged 47,308 acre- feet, while that of Parleys, with a drainage area slightly greater ( 50 square miles), averaged only 13,303 acre- feet. Again, during 1904 the discharge of City arid Emigration creeks, each having drainage areas of approximately 19 square miles, amounted, respectively, to 12,604 and 2,332 acre- feet. Provo and Spanish Fork rivers also afford similar results. The drainage area of Provo River ( 640 square miles) |
