Show According to University Provost Sterling M. McMurrin, "The Challenge program is the University at its best ................ the students meeting the major issues of the day head on, willing to hear both sides of every argument and exhibiting an admirable independence of mind and judgment." Challenge speakers offered a variety of topics for interested audiences. Dr. Alan Guttmach-er, President of the Planned Parenthood-World Population Assn., gave the first evening lecture to a capacity crowd in the Union Ballroom. Syndicated columnist Holmes Alexander spoke on the conflict between truth and national security in the press at an afternoon lecture. Challenge continued full force with Dr. Abraham Maslow discussing existential man, football coach Mike Gid-dings with a "Football Forecast," Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Far Eastern Affairs Robert Barnett speaking about our position in Southeast Asia, and two panels examining controversial films. Challenge was indeed an occasion for special commendation. Dr. James Bonner explores some "New Approaches in Brain Biology." Discussing "Meeting the Challenge: 'A Brave New World'," are Howard Higman, Lawrence Speiser, Holmes Alexander, Martin Erickson, George Keller and Henry Dobyns. Father James Brown, Paul Lorenzi, Sereta Jones, Clarice Short and Peter Applby discuss the film, "The Parable." Samuel Thurman, Virginia Frobes, Sydney Angelman, Rev. John Wade and E. W.
