Show Track Though Utah track must be placed in the "unpredictable" category, Utah's two strong wins over the University of California at Santa Barbara and Weber State College, as of April 4th, made the Redskins appear a potential factor in this season's Western Athletic Conference track race. Sophomores and Freshmen dominated the 1966 team and were instrumental in Utah's two early wins. The lower classmen have indeed sparkled on the cinders. Sophomores Ben Stowell and Scott Etnyre did well in the broad jump as well as the hop-step-and-jump. Freshman Charles Schuch set a record at the Sainta Barbara meet. Sophomore Marcel Chappuis showed himself to be a fine prospect in the javelin. But it wasn't "all lowerclassmen." Veterans like sprinter Taylor Williams, hurdler Dennis Hall, and weightman-sprinter Doug Wells made outstanding performances. The track team was coached by Pete Carlston who led the cindermen for his second vear at Utah. Lou Moench starting the quarter-mile. Ute cmdermen were (front row) C.
