As a teacher in the Sociology Department, he is interested in the sociological aspects of religion. Dean Bennion was the Director of the L.D.S. Institute of Religion from 1934 to 1962. His background in sociology and religion have made him an invaluable counselor to the students. Also concerned with adjustment of youth, Dean Bennion runs a boys' ranch for juvenile delinquents every summer at his expense. F. Martin Erickson Assistant Dean of Students Dean F. Martin Erickson's responsibility is towards student activities on campus. He works with the residence halls, the greeks, and the Student Activities Center. Dean Erickson feels that his position as Assistant Dean of Students is just an extension of the interests he has always had. One of his basic concerns is the belief that the college population does not make a significant contribution to society. This misconception doesn't come from adults but the students' own peers. He would like to see a change in the indifference and lack of support among students. 24 |
