Over a period of four years the A Cappella Choir, under the direction of Dr. Newell B. Weight, has steadily advanced in musical skill, showmanship and fame. The choir was featured in several programs this year, including the presentation of the Bruckner Award to Maestro Maurice Abravanel, conductor of the Utah Symphony. This year saw the final draft of the choir's constitution, which was formulated by President Ed Sharp and his board of officers. Choir members enjoyed an entertaining Halloween party in October and in December went Christmas caroling in Orem. However, the highlight of the musical year again proved to be the traditional spring tour. Choir members packed their formals and tuxedos and travelled to San Francisco to fill concert engagements. 86 |
