Show Letters and Sciences One of the real marks of a "college student" is the breadth of his understanding. By embracing the traditional departments of the liberal arts and sciences, the College of Letters and Sciences provides a broad program in general John D. Spikes Dean of the College of Letters and Sciences education for all undergraduate students. Further, for those primarily interested in liberal education and competence in a major field of study, this college offers a more specialized program leading to the baccalaureate degree. •¦>;¦¦:: Medicine Kenneth B. Castleton Dean of the College of Medicine The College of Medicine, like most colleges on the University campus, has made great strides in the past year. The College's most important accomplishment was the opening of the new University Medical Center, June 1, 1965. The Medical Center not only trains doctors and nurses in the profession of medicine, but it serves the people of Utah as well. In the Medical Center special research is being done in all phases of medicine including the effects of radiation, transplanting of certain organs of the body and blood diseases. 29 |
