Show Miss University of Utah, Ann Clark, is congratulated by her predecessor, Geri George, as attendants Carolyn Woodruff, Shirlene Alsop and committee member Jordan Tanner look on.Founder's Day activities were of nation-wide interest with General William F. Dean - three years a communist prisoner and an outstanding American - addressing the student body as honored guest at the special assembly program . . . "integrity, loyalty and enthusiasm," said the General, "are essentials for everyone" . . . Ann Clark, chosen "Miss University of Utah," and attendants Shirlene Alsop and Carolyn Woodruff, reigned throughout the week ... a week featuring the Utah Symphony Orchestra Concert, two basketball games, an assembly, banquet and dance . . . Co-chairmen Betty Gibson and Helen Druke were the "push" behind the scenes for our "U" Birthday celebration which lighted 104 candles . . . essay and oratory winners, who wrote and spoke about "Years Ahead at the 'U'," were Dick Bosley, Michael Bennett, Luana Love and Bill Roylance.Founders Day22 |
