Show Michel TaylorAquamaidsSandra Huenengardt"Come on in, the water's fine" was an expression often heard around the Women's Gym whenever the Aquamaids, the University Swimming Club, were meeting in the pool to perfect a swimming stroke or to prepare for one of their water shows or to just have a good time and enjoy the cool water . . . however, most of the time was devoted to hard practice with the goal of perfection in mind . . . that this goal was reached was proven by their various shows . . . the beginning of their performances was with the Christmas demonstration of synchronized swimming and water stunts . . . the big performance of the year was the Spring Show which was held at the new Veteran's Hospital . . . one show was presented to the veterans and one to the students . . . following the theme "Months of the Year" the show included synchronized swimming, water stunts and form swimming . . . when the members weren't doing shows they were competing in synchronized swim meets against the YWCA, Tooele, Deseret Gym, the AC and the University Extension Division . . . copping first place honors in these synchronized competitions was Ann Bennett, president of the organization ... a very important part of the Aquamaid organization was the Jr. Aquamaid group who were always ready to assist their big sister organization in any way.Beth BatesAlice ShomanEllen MooreMilly CookCherie MiddaughSally Threadgold231 |
