Show hr<X hey were green as they came from near and far ... but they wore determined smiles and had twinkles in their eyes that no fear of the unknown could destroy . . . theirs is a world of excitement, a continual series of new and stimulating experiences . . . these are our Frosh, the backbone of the university, future campus leaders . . . they wore their beanies as marks of distinction when they first came, but as the year progressed, they grew in stature, poise, and knowledge, so that no upperclassmen could sneer at them with the glance given a true "greenie" . . . they set their goals high, became recognized members of campus social and activity groups . . . they plowed through biology and English texts, suffered through their first final weeks, and discovered the thrill of a first college formal . . . after nine months of hard work and re-evaluation, they emerge with a new courage and new values to carry them through three more years of college life ... a successful first struggle on the battlefield of the unknown ... a first step toward the unfolding of the petals of experience, toward the full-blown realization oflife yet to come.Freshman Class Officers, left to right: Dean Larsen, Janet Geertsen, Mamie Alice Edwards, Wayne Miller.240 |
