Show Frosh WeekFor pigs this would be the life-for college students, well . . . the mud races started group competition off in an unusual manner during Hello Week 1953.Frosh Week 1953-54 started the year's activities off with a bang under the chairmanship of Pierre Du Bois with his hard-working committee . . . lots of sunshine, beanie-clad papooses and enthusiastic welcoming groups spirited the big event ... a rousing assembly, a televised pep rally and a get-acquainted mat dance added to the zest and thrill of the greenies first week of college ... a car-caravan to the U on the mountainmarked the traditional white-washing job ... all remaining newness was forgotten by the Freshies during the "Steve Canyon" Sigma Chi Melon Mess and the Dance on the Plaza . . . highlight of the week -the Frosh Week Dance-was climaxed by the crowning of the Freshman Queen and her two attendants . . . but, the fun was just beginning for the new papooses of the U. of U.Some greenies were dazed, some excited, others just nonchalant as they left the talent assembly held during Freshman Week.Instigators of a spirited Freshman week were committee membersElaine Moesser, Betty Ward, Bud Nicholes, Pierre Du Bois-chairman,Ginger Jex, and Nancy Butchereit. |
