Show Utah s student leaders began official proceedings with a two-week NSA Conference with other executive officers from around the nation. While at this Illinois convention, they were invited to Cuba by Premier Fidel Castro and the Cuban student government to see for themselves that Cuba was getting on its feet. With the largest delegation present, the Ute Hxecs new to Havana, met Castro and toured the island. Back home on campus, the council rewrote the ASUU Constitution and sent the bill before Student Affairs. The Council can take credit for bringing notables Ma-dame Pandit and John F. Kennedy to campus. In addition, they sponsored a new series, Concerts by Contemporary Composers, performed by the Utah Symphony. A major goal of this year s group was the strengthening of the student Senate and establishing information files for the various campus organizations.Bill Oswald, ASUU PresidentSharon GygiFirst \ice PresidentBob WrightSecond \ice PresidentFloyd Tanner TreasurerJane Watson HistorianMary McEntire SecretaryRoyden GladeUnion Board Chairman17 |
