Show John Bailey, Editor, second semesterDave Porter, Editor, first semesterTHE CONTROVERSIAL DAILY CHRONICLEExisting on a campus of 10,000 students, the daily paper became a potent method and the only feasible mode of communication between the various facets of university organization. Twelve salaried positions Kept its fluctuating 30-40 membere d-staff buzzing from one to rive daily. For some, there remained evening and sometimes early morning press duty to see that the paper was properly put to bed.At 7:50 every weekday morning, Utah's fifth largest newspaper, with a circulation of 5000 copies per day, reached distribution points for a little more than a penny a day per student. At least partial order was established in the office with the addition of new filing cabinets and off-campus paper files which aided the staff in operating more efficiently.Striving hard to overcome and suppress any outside dictation from the Student Senate (or the Cweans), the Chronicle somehow retained its freedom of the press ideals. The Chronicle stressed greater coverage of campus events on its 59 pages; more pictures told the story a little better and helped put over the issues where otherwise students wouldn't have spent time reading.Gary Brockbank Business ManagerLance Gudmundsen Managing EditorJohn Grover Business Manager |
