They worked on plans for an activity night in which various departments such as dance, P.E., and music would present examples of their skill in an all university variety show. They also planned a university play-day, inviting the best of the intramurals from the surrounding colleges to participate in competition. The AWS added many new firsts to their record during the year. In the fall they introduced the key privilege for university women living in dorms and sorority houses. The council compiled a patron roster of faculty members who were willing to serve as chaperones for university activities. These rosters were made available to all campus organizations. This year AWS stressed aid to foreign students. They have set aside one of their annual scholarships for a foreign student. At the Intercollegiate AWS convention, the University of Utah was honored by being elected to be the IAWS clearinghouse for a term of three years. This means that any school desiring information or suggestions for activities can write to the Utah AWS and receive this information. The combined efforts of AMS and AWS resulted in a new co-educational sponsor program for incoming Freshmen.26 |
