Show WHAT IS AA Student...A student is that creation of nature who learns early in his collegiate life that nothing is more dull than school, more joyous than all-night parties, or more enslaving than study. He learns with amazing rapidity to avoid the first and third and concentrate diligently on the second. He is a carrier of elabor-atel y-named books and a practicing procrastinator. He carries the same hooks quarter after quarter, his excuse being that he hates parting with such valu-able material. He desires little more than the basic necessities of life <¦- twenty dollars a week spending money, a new Thunderbird every year, and a campus queen constantly on his arm.A Classroom...A classroom is the cube-shaped enclosure where a student spends the most unhappy moments of his life. It is here that he dozes uncomfortably through hours of uninspiring lecture. It is here that he wastes precious minutes of skiing time, taking uncipherable notes on a subject he cares nothing about; and it is here that his ego is so profoundly stabbed when, during the final exam, he discovers disastrously how very little he actually knows about the subject. It is to this dungeon that he trudges sleepy-eyed every morning and it is from here he flings himself at noon.A Teacher...A teacher is an intellectual cyclone with a highly respected title of doctor or professor. He is the bubonic plague of the University World *-something to be avoided and feared »- and apparently delighted in stifling a student s educational development by demanding that he read Plato or Shak espeare. His days are filled with magnanimous problems including the perfecting of a satisfactory method to keep his third-hour psychology class awake, and Freudian frustrations when he is forced to make a decision as to where to park his car. His appearance is marked by a white shirt and a dark suit, and accentuated by a pencil propped above a pair of horned-rimmed glasses, giving him a continental air as he stomps successfully across campus.112 |
