Show FROSH VIE VARSITY POSTSThe University freshman basketball team suffered from a rough season. They were plagued with injuries; four sprained ankles occuring in one practice. The Papooses lacked the over-all height to match some of their tougher opponents. BYU had an exceptionally strong team and the Papooses couldn't defeat them. With four graduates leaving from the varsity this year and about six next year, head coach Gardner is going to need to draw from some of the strong points of this year's frosh team. Bob Cozby ranked as outstanding player by establishing an impressive record in rebounding, and having compiled more points -throughout the season than any other player. Other mainstays of the team were Mel Yergensen, Neil Jensen, and Larry Arrick. Dick Hetherington improved throughout the season and could very well develop into good college material. Coach Morris Buckwalter, part of the former 3 B's, coached the Papooses and was assisted by Delyle Condie of last year's varsity ball team, and Major R. A. Smith of the United States Marine Corps, who played both college and service basketball.BMUBHWMMM¦I¦ _The Frosh met rugged competition against the Varsity Quint, but the practice didn't help the final 4-8 win-loss record.FROSH TEAM -¦ Left to Right, First Row: Morris Buckwalter, Coach; Ron Naegle, Jay Anderson, Dick Hetherington, Phil Read, Larry Arrick, Bill Puzey.
