Between 1973 and 1990 Utah was below the nation in hospital length-of-stay, which may in part reflect Utah's younger population (younger people tend to have shorter hospital stays than older people). The period between 1973 and 1990 showed a general decrease in hospital length-of-stay for both Utah and the nation (Table 78).
