Utah is below the median state for persons who report having ever smoked 100 cigarettes and currently smoke regularly. The median state appears to have dropped between 1986 and 1990 for those 18 years and older, while the Utah percentages increased modestly between 1988 and 1990 (Figure 45). Figure 45__________________________________ People with less education appear to be at an increased risk for engaging in smoking behavior. While Utah showed a sharp drop from 1986 to 1987, it has since then steadily moved closer to the median state in the percentage of less educated people who smoke frequently (Figure 46).
