Drinking prevalence was included as an indicator to highlight how Utah compares with the U.S. in total drinking. Utah is below the U.S. median in the percentage of persons who report having consumed alcoholic beverages during the past month (Figure 39). Between 1989 and 1991 Utah declined in the prevalence of reported drinking. Serious health problems are not likely to be associated with occasional drinking.
