Figure 60 2500-r Health Care Expenditures 11 Mountain ? us 1980 1982 1983 1984 1985 1986 1987 1988 1989 1990 Between 1980 and 1990 health care expenditures increased 129% for Utah, 144% for the nation, and 115% for the Intermountain Region. The total percentage of per capita income going for health care also increased for Utah, the Intermountain Region, and the nation (Table 76). Utah has lower health care expenditures per capita (in total dollars) compared to both the nation and the Intermountain Region. But, because Utah has lower per capita income, Utah is higher than the Intermountain Region and only slightly lower than the U.S. in the percentage of personal income going towards health care.
