Utah is substantially below the national average in its induced abortion ratio -abortions per 1,000 resident live births (Table 68, Figure 57). Between 1980 and 1991 Utah's abortion ratio increased per 1,000 live births by 14%. Between 1980 and 1990 the U.S. declined by 3.5%. The Utah:U.S. comparison shows Utah's abortion ratio to be moving from about one quarter of the national rate to about one-third.
