The Utah:U.S. comparison shows that Utah's syphilis incidence rate is approximately one-tenth that of the nation, and declined slightly from 1988 to 1990. Both Utah and the nation seem to follow a pattern of increase for several years followed by a period of decline, and then an increase again (Table 46, Figure 31).
