Show DAVID H. WORKMAN "In a man's world (as far as I can see, we're still in one), being confused about where you are going is not acceptable." (Gentlemen's Quarterly, Oct., 1986) (Borrowed) Probably one of the more intriguing questions of the past year has been, "What's Workman gonna do?" Those of you who know me well have had the distinct displeasure of hearing me fret over career options as diverse as Internal Medicine/Preventive Medicine, MBA school, Law school, and Ortho· pedics. In light of what G.Q. says, your acceptance of and tolerance for me as my friends has been truly admirable and deeply appreciated. The frustra· tions that you have felt with me have been intensely worse for my dear wife and son. And I sincerely love and respect them and you for such unselfish . and unconditional support. Like all of you, I came in to Medicine because of a desire to do something good, useful and selfless. And like you, even after all I've experienced these past few years, and anticipating what lies ahead, Medicine is still where I want to be. Look for me in twenty years as a community based Orthopedist with several children, a few horses, no hair and open arms. I love you and admire you all! Good Luck and Thank You. DAVID H. WORKMAN "To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to appre· ciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of oneself; to leave the world a little bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier: This is to have succeeded.'' -Ralph Waldo Emerson· |
