Show James C. Stringham was gasping for his first breath on March 13, 1959 in Evanston, Illinois. Shortly thereafter his father, a practicing physician in Salt Lake Valley, moved the family to the beehive state, where they have all lived happily ever since. Jim graduated from Highland High and progressed onwards to the University of Utah where he was a ski instructor for the first year. After an exhausting year chasing coeds down the slopes he felt he needed a rest, and he volunteered for a two year vacation in Italy. The vacation was sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and Jim states the only thing that really bothered him about the vacation was he always had to get up early and wear white shirts! After returning from his mission he started back at the "U" where he designed his own degree around Cellular Biology and Business. Jim graduated in 1983 Magna Cum Laude. He always knew he wanted to go into Medicine so his Junior year at the "U" he took on a job as a research assistant in the department of Otolaryngology at the UUMC. Jim continued in the capacity until this year. His talents in research became quickly apparent and netted him 5 articles either published or in the process of publication. Jim has decided on a career in Surgery but hasn't been able to decide between a fellowship in Cardio-Thoracic, Transplant, Pediatric, Colon-Rectal, Vascular, or Trauma Surgery. Lots of luck!! He has decided on an academic or academic-associated practice. JIM STRINGHAM 105 |
