Show DAVID DEBENHAM I was born right here in Zion at LDS hospital in 1958. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to live in a number of states before returning here for college. Our family lived in Washington D.C., Dallas, Texas, three or four spots in California, and Anchorage, Alaska. Living in all these different parts of the country has helped me realize how great the state of Utah really is! After graduating from East Anchorage High I came down to go to BYU - one year at the "Y" and 10 visits to the "standards commit· tee" later I realized BYU was not for me. I transferred to Dixie College in St. George for my second year, where I had one of the most fun filled years of my life! I also met my wife·to·be at Dixie, and fortunately for me I talked her into marriage a year and a half later. Susan is the best thing that's happened to me and I love her with all my hear.t - without her sanity, love, and support I could never have made it through the insanity of the past four years! After Dixie I decided I wanted to try for Medical School, even though I was a business major. I continued with my degree in marketing Uust in case!) and eventually ended up with the rest of you guys! My most memorable experiences of the first two years were the times I went duck hunting with Mat Clissold; skiing with Kevin Tolton and Dave Debyle; golfing with Rob Hunter; and most memorably of all the time Kevin Tolton, Blake Welling, and I went "deer hunting" up near Coalsville - I'll never forget any of them, thanks you guys! Also, Scott and Sterling, thanks for making class more bearable! The third year was largely one of disillusionment. "Clinical Medicine" was definitely not all it was cracked up to be. However, being the eternal optimist I tried to enjoy all the rotations, and generally found them all to be equally challenging and interesting. Eventually I found the right mix of medicine and surgery, laced with enough psychology, and a healthy, young population in OB/ GYN - so here I am waiting to match in the "sue·me·for·all·l've·got" field - what a masochist!! Hopefully I'll end up in a partnership with three or four other OB's somewhere in Utah. I can honestly say I've enjoyed associating with each and everyone of you (despite a lack of mutualness on the part of some of you) and wish you all the best of success! See how lucky I am!! The three most beautiful women in the world. From L to R: Jessica, age 4; me; Krissy, age 2; and my sexy, beautiful wife Susan. Me Christmas 26 1960 - 2 ½ years old. |
