Whether exerting himself as a quiet force from the corner or in the midst of a gaggling group of frenetic medical students having lunch, Jeff always carried himself with commanding insouciance. This quality, coupled with his athletic grace, has always and will always put him in good standing on the wards, on the courts, and with the ladies. Parenthetically, it has been rumoured that he has eyes that have caused women to lose their train of thought, breath, and hearts - or was that his nose? (Ed. note- what about virginity?) Never one to repudiate his past, Jeff in fact takes great pains to begin each clinical rotation by dropping the fact that he's a humble boy from Vernal with only water-skiing on his mind. With his gullible audience thus primed, he will then proceed to upstage residents and dazzle attendings with his brilliance and far-fromthe-farm finesse. (Dear God, give me the strength to keep typing this ... ) Beyond his genius, Jeff has a singularly droll sense of humor that he spreads generously to make people laugh. He has been known to wax ridiculous once in a while when O.R. banter lapses and he sallies forth with an inane but scholarly recitation of the merits of various breakfast cereals- Captain Crunch coming out ahead at last tally. Jeff assures us that he can be sensitive "if he's interested," that he cries at sentimental moments in movies, that he really does not like to hear himself talk, and that he will carry on the tradition when he gets to Duke-Radiology of dropping the fact that he's a simple boy from an obscure little medical school in the midst of the Rocky Mountains - and then proceed to astound one and all with his savvy. (Yes, I know. It was hard on me when I read it, also. It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't make AOA. He's also a good basketball player, the kind that makes opponents want to foul out of a game, but Jeff is too quick to get nailed. He's too damn quick ... ) JEFF MC CLELLAN J 84 |
