Show Coffee Drinkers Preferred Page 266 of 307 a chance they might work when they were dry. A small chance but stranger things had happened. It was past three in the morning when I made it back to Klauss's place on Lincoln. I slipped the key into the street door and climbed the stairs. I opened the door to the apartment as quietly as possible. I didn't want to wake Rhythm and Alii. I didn't expect Sariah to have waited up for me but I confess that I was suprised when I did not see her on the sofa. I wouldn't have been able to sleep if she had been out fighting a goon all evening. I decided to peek in on the little family just to see how cutely they snuggled. I quietly opened the door to Klauss's bedroom. No Alii, no Rhythm, no Sarah. I turned on the lights. They were gone. Their suitcases were gone. My suitcase was next to the sofa. Sounds escaped my lips into the empty apartment. I never speak in the nuevo texting language that even a dork like me was becoming expert in but this just slipped out, "WTF?" I was not worried that I had been mistaken about the condition of inertness in which I had left Cox. Sarah's ex was dead and he had not come here and coaxed her off at gun point. She had left. Presumably of her own volition. She had most likely called a taxi cab. |
