Show Coffee Drinkers Preferred Page 229 of 307 I held the Steve Phone away from my face and looked at it. "The phone, huh?" "Yeah. My ex-wife told me I had control issues." "Standard GPS? Right?" I asked. He was good. Give me a phone that's been hacked to reveal my location with the built in Global Positioning Technology and he'd always know exactly where I was. The Government and the Phone Companies knew where each person carrying a cell phone was at all times. Why shouldn't Steve. Steve wasn't Big Brother. He was Big Brother's weird uncle. "I can use GPS or Cell Triangulation. It depends on the network and how secure it is." He was being modest. It seemed to me that some of the access that he had could only be bought. Or connived. Or stolen. He was good at what he did. He really didn't actually need anyone in the field to get video of people. He could do it all from his single wide. There were security cameras at that Starbucks where I had gone to to catch video of Ralph and what turned out to be his Eagle Scout. Sure, some of those cameras took only grainy video and made identifying people hard but his prowess with technology .made me wonder seriously about what was going on with him. Was I even needed? What exactly was I needed for? I had on my new favorite Hawaiin print shirt. Very distinctive. "So, tell me what you think of my shirt." |
