I tried to avoid the specifics'of these, but I noticed they tended to involve, first, a seventeen-year-old girl crying and then she would be surrounded by a group of young women trying to comfort her; several of whom would catch the crying mode and join in with her. Sometimes the crying happened to an older woman. Please do not get the feeling that I am telling you about these people being so filled with the spirit that they cry, like the charasmatic Christians or the Pentacostals. No. These were just interpersonal conflicts made public so that some small treachery could be revealed. The crying was simply an indicator of where to turn the spotlight. The truth always came out: Jenny and Matt went too far. Becky did this and Dana did that. Brother Stephenson did what? Oh my word. I just kept my smile up and tried to avoid the shrapnel. This was the primary reason for my avoiding the obvious match making that was intended to join Meg Olson and Nephi Allred into the bonds of Eternal Matrimony where not even death, it was said, could tear us asunder.
