"Put your hands up against that wall." "Am I suspected of something?" "You are suspected of non-compliance." This was the New World Order Catch 22 that we had all accepted for ourselves. Local laws gave police the right to issue some instructions to citizens. Apparently Reno cops used some sort of "non-compliance" verbiage to justify whatever it is they wanted to do. These local laws could end up trumping constitutional rights, like our protections against "unreasonable searches and seizures." I ached too much to care about the violation of my constitutional rights. With my face bruised and my right shoe missing, I hardly looked a defender of liberty. I assumed the position against the wall. They found nothing on me. Not even my pocketknife, which they would have asked me about. I didn't say anything. They let me limp off without being arrested or tazed. When they were out of sight I took off my other shoe and threw it in a garbage can. |
