Show 165 One of the men of the 20th of July writing in a letter to his mother, said: "Perhaps a time will come when a different judgment will be made of our attitude, when we will be regarded not as scoundrels but as admoni- tors and patriots." We can only add: has come. "Yorck von wartenburg, that time You were in truth an admonitor and patriot.» We bow in reverence before the men of the 20th of July and the five thousand patriots, who in those months gave their lives for their country. Their ranks include a list of men from the German forei gn service. In honoring eSpecially their memory here today , we honor the memory of the others as well. Among them was Otto Kiep, the husband of our colleague Hanna Kiep. I hOpe it will still be possible this year to have a memorial plaque installed in the German Chanc ery which will bear his name just like the bronze table t which stands in the foreign office in Bonn which bears the names of all the members of the foreign servi ce who sacrificed their lives for the honor of the Germa n peeple. And now may I ask that you rise from your place s so that I may read the names of these members of the foreign service. Following this I ask that you remain silent for a moment in memory of all those who particiu pated in the uprising of conscience and who died for it.
