BOX 11568 SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH 84147 MB 1 5 1980 Mr. Peter Carlson Environmental Policy Center 317 Pennsylvania Avenue, S.E. Washington, DC 20003 Dear Mr. Carlson: We have received your letter of July 28, 1980, and have the following responses to your questions. 1. The following contracts have been let on the Central Utah Project this year: Prefabricated Metal Garages, Duchesne Government Community Exploratory Drilling, Jordanelle Reservoir Site Temporary Lab Building, Lindon, Utah Block #1 Drains, Jensen Unit Accelerograph Enclosures, Soldier Creek Dam Jordan Aqueduct, Reach 3 Access Roads for Exploratory Drilling, Diamond Fork Exploratory Drilling, Upper Stillwater Damsite Exploratory Drilling, Fifth Water Powerplant Site Bituminous Surfacing, Pleasant Grove Maintenance Shop Hades and Rhodes Tunnel and Appertenant Structures, Strawberry Aqueduct Work Center Building, Currant Creek Recreation Area Soldier Creek Sewage Lagoons, Strawberry Reservoir Recreation Area 2. The Supreme Court on June 23, 1980, denied a writ of certiorari filed by the Strawberry Water Users Association, thus leaving undisturbed a December 12, 1979, decision by the United States Court of Claims in favor of the United States. That decision determined that the so-called "watershed lands" surrounding the original Strawberry Project are the property of the United States and may be used for purposes of enlargement of Strawberry Reservoir as a part of the development of the Bonneville Unit, Central Utah Project, without payment of compensation to the Strawberry Water Users Association. The Association claim regarding ownership of the lands in question is thus disposed of, and is not an impediment to further orderly development of the Bonneville Unit. .0UWQV ^ 6 - 1 9^ |
