Staff Attorneys Mr. David Raskin Department of Psychology University of British Columbia Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada V6T1W5 Dear Dave: The case is now submitted to the Tenth Circuit, the opinion. and we await I am writing here principally to thank you and the Chapter for your very successful efforts in fund raising for the CUP litigation. The Foundation tells me the total was $1682.50, a figure with which we are well pleased. I think we have made some long-term progress and thus our investment has not been in vain. The Stipulation regarding the second claim could well have an impact, and an important one, on the further phases of the CUP. Without question we provided the stage for the Indians to at least begin reopening the question of their rights. As you know we were not particularly happy with the immediate results of their efforts, but nevertheless, the facade of unity has been broken. Hopefully there will be further deterioration in Interior's position. Again I thank you and the Cha the money raising area but in the litigation. »r for your efforts not only in ,rong and able contribution to HAR/sk cc: Ruth Frear June Viavant San Francisco, CA: 311 California Street, Suite 311, 94104; Telephone (415) 398-1411 Denver, CO: 5 30 Majestic Bldg., 209 16th Street, 80202; Telephone (303) 892-6301 |
