Legal Subdiv. Sec. 10, 11, 14, 15 and pt. of Sec. 2, part of Sec. 22 and part of Sec. 23, T36S, 811W., SLB&M EXPLANATORY It is proposed to construct two canals running from the point of diversion given uni er paragraph 7 of this application. The first canal will run in a general southerly direction a distance of 5 miles. The second canal will run easterly a distance of 2 miles and southerly a distance of two miles. These canals will intercept the early spring runoff from part of Sections 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 21, 23, 28, 33, and 32, T37S, R10W, SLB&M and part of Sections 8, 9, 16, 17, and 4, T38S, R10W, SLB&M. There will be approximately 2200 acres of the Virgin River Drainage Area above the canals. It is expected that each acre of watershed above the canals will yield approximately 1 acre-foot of runoff annually. As heretofore stated most of the water intercepted will derive from the early spring runoff resulting from the spring thaws and melting snow. However, flood water deriving from summer and fall rains will also be intercepted by the canals. It should be particularly noted that no live streams or water which contributes to the water now adjudicated in the Virgin River will be intercepted by the canals. The only water which will be intercepted and appropriated under this application Is flood water or water which contributes directly to the high flows of the Virgin River and water which is not now being used beneficially. |
