Source: Federal Power Commission. Facilities Under Construction and Authorized No improvements in navigation facilities are un- der construction at the present time. A Federal project for a navigation channel 12 feet deep as far as Holyoke has been authorized, but with the proviso that private interests build a power dam at tine Enfield rapids and provide limited locking facilities. The existing project also pro- vides for a_n 11-foot entrance channel and anchor- age for small boats in North Cove, Old Saybrook, Conn., and an 8-foot channel and turning basin at Hamburg, Conn. No funds have been appropri- ated and no work has been done. Additional Navigation Needs Navigation below Hartford would be made more economical by widening and deepening the chan- nel, and dredging anchoring and maneuvering areas.
