Show [30] When I saw that there would be no barley crop, I planted a crop of corn, either the latter part of April or in the early part of May, 1924 and while this crop was irrigated some, after planting, on account of the water shortage this crop failed to mature and came up in small patches of from % to ^ acre, and some of it headed out, making approximately two acres of matured corn. On account of the Imperial Irrigation District working on the canal at the same time that I needed water to irrigate my crop of corn, it was impossible for me to obtain sufficient water to irrigate my said crop and later, when I did get water, it was too late to make a good crop. I am now preparing to plant a crop of barley and alfalfa. I am continuing with the work of reclaiming the land in good faith and am in hopes of raising a profitable crop. In the event this showing is not considered sufficient, I shall be glad to submit a further showing at a later date. I am in receipt of a letter from the Imperial Irrigation District, stating that the land embraced in my said entry was to be included within the boundaries of the Imperial Irrigation District, but that this would be finally acted upon on the 27th day of January, 1925. When this certificate has been received by me, I will file the same with the United States Land Office at El Centro, California. /s/ James H. Hunter |
