Show knew all of that. That was part of my job to learn weapon and quipm nt. JA : But you were in the Pacific Theater. BILL: I know but you had to learn. They had British soldiers in the Pacific. JAS: Oh. BILL: Sure, in Burma, India. Australian troops, New Zealand troops; yeah they had British people there, but part of my job was to learn - I've still got the manual, the book somewhere. I know I won't be able to find it now, I know. You know, as soon as I say I've got something, I can't find it. Yes, I did. Here it is. JAS: What is it? BILL: Small Arms Identification. See, it tells you every weapon, how to fields trip it, how to use it, how to take it apart and use it and put it back together again. JAS: When was this published? BILL: Yeah. It's unclassified, so it isn't really important. This is probably a second or third-'76-yeah, this is a second or third publication. But before that I had to know all of the Japanese weapons. It was quite fun. You know, it was interesting. JAS: Sure. BILL: Okay, is there anything else I can do? JAS: Well, I know your time is short. BILL: No, no, I'm not in any hurry. JAS: Okay, great. What are some things that are important about your service that we haven't covered yet? 135 |
