Show W 11 we were sitting around and just forgot about all it H 11 b back with it. b ut h maybe three hours later I look down to the company tent and her s MPs. I wond r what's going on? Well, I found out soon enough. The runner come up and said, "Pastore, Company Commander wants to see you." So I went down there and here 's all these MPs and Espongi sitting there. The only name he knew was Pastore. So when they picked him up on the black market for getting these Hershey bars, they said, "Where did you get this money?" and he said, "Pastore." Well, I'm not hard to find when you're the only Pastore in a unit, so they come up to see. China Red said, "Pastore, what the hell are you doing?" I said, "Well, we wanted some Hersheys, and he said he could get us some." This MP said, "Well, somebody broke into a railroad car of Hershey bars. I said, "Oh?" They said, "They must have stolen half the railroad car full of Hershey bars." I said, "Where were they going?" He said, "Well, to be distributed to PXs. They weren't going up to the lines. They were going to the rear echelon people, that's where they were going. I said, "Geez, that's too bad that we got some of them, isn't it?" And he said, "Well, you don't have any yet." He said, "We're confiscating them." "No, no, you're not confiscating. We've paid money for that. Those are ours." And China Red said, "Yeah, I think he's right. Can I have a box?" [Laughing] We must have had six or eight boxes of them, and the MPs were disgusted, but there was nothing they could do, so we got our Hersheys. 86 |
