Us traiterent avec l'O-pera, qui, en vertu de fes Pa-tentes , leur accorda la permii-fion de chanter. On compofa audi - tot des Pieces purement en Vaudevilles ; & lc Spectacle a-lors prit le nom d'O p E R A C O M I Q U E . On mela peu-a-peu de la profe avec les vers, pour mieux Her les couplets, ou pour fe difpenfer d'en trop faire de communs : de forte qu'infenfiblement les Pieces de-vinrent mixtes. Elles etoient tel-les, quand l'Opera Comique a enfin fuccombe fous l'efforc de fes 'PREFACE. fes Ennemis, apres en avoir tou-jours ete perfecute. Nous luivons cette chronologic , dans la distribution de nos Pieces.
