Show Several construction deficiencies have been noted during the 1967 irrigation season, and corrective work is being accomplished concurrent with normal operation of project facilities. Transfer of operation and maintenance responsibilities to Emery Water Conservancy District will be effected when facilities have been adequately seasoned and operational difficulties are corrected. Construction of project drainage facilities is scheduled to begin in 1969. 5. WYOMING a. Lyman Project The Lyman Project is located in southwestern Wyoming in Uinta County near the town of Lyman. The project will deliver supplemental water to 42,674 acres of presently irrigated lands. Two dams - the Meeks Cabin Dam and China Meadows Dam - will be built by the Bureau of Reclamation and will comprise the principal features of the project. Construction Activities Work on the Lyman Project continued to be centered on construction of the 174-foot-high Meeks Cabin Dam and access road. The summer work season is short at the nearly 9,000-foot elevation at which the dam is being constructed. Late spring storms hampered resumption of work in the spring of 1967. The contractor concentrated on construction of the outlet works conduit structure. By September 30, 1967, all conduit work was finished, and the intake structure was substantially completed. Selected earthfill has been placed around and over the conduit. The outlet works stilling basin and downstream channel have been excavated and the concrete placing of the stilling basin floor, chute, and walls is underway. It is expected that Blacks Fork will be diverted through the outlet works conduit in July 1968. Only limited earthwork has been completed the past season and only about ten percent of the dam embankment has been completed to date. The contractor completed earthwork for the eight-mile riprap haul road this summer and has placed gravel surfacing on the first four miles of it. For maximum efficiency on the remaining four miles, haul trucks will carry road gravel surfacing material en route to the riprap source and carry riprap on the return trip. Specifications designs will be prepared for China Meadows Dam and access road in 1968. Late in 1966 an agreement was consummated 123 |
