Show H. R. 3300 (Aspinall) S. 1004 (Hayden) SEC. 101 - Act to be "Colorado River Basin Project Act". SEC. 102 - Congress recognizes water shortages in Colorado River Basin and authorizes and directs National Water Commission and Water Resources Council to give highest priority to set up a plan and program for relief. This program shall, among others, (1) regulate flow of Colorado, (2) control floods, (3) improve navigation, (4) provide for storage and delivery of water for reclamation of lands, (5) provide for outdoor recreation, (6) improve conditions for fish and wildlife, and (7) provide for generation and sale of hydroelectric power. TITLE II - The National Water Commission: Investigations and Planning SEC. 201 - Established a seven member National Water Commission. SEC. 202 - Prescribes duties of the Commission and when it will terminate, namely: (1) Review present and anticipated national water resource problems. (2) Consider economic and social consequences of water resources development. (3) Advise on such specific water resource problems as may be referred to it by the President and the Water Resources Council. (4) Conduct such specific investigations as are herein authorized or as hereafter authorized by Congress. The Commission is to consult with the Council and its reports are to be furnished to the Council for comments and review. Commission is to terminate six years after the effective date of the Act. SEC. 203 - Sets forth powers of the Commission; to hold hearings, hire personnel, own equipment, etc. SEC. 204 - Authority of the Chairman to serve as chief executive officer of the Commission. SEC. 205 - Relates the Commission to the other Federal water resources agencies and other Federal departments. SEC. 206 - (a) Council, consulting with Commission, under Sec. 103 of Water Resources Planning Act has 120 days from the effective date of this Act to establish principles, standards, procedures for investigations, plans, reports authorized by this section and Section 208. Secretary in conforming with these established procedures and Section 205 authority is authorized and directed to: Sec. 1 - Act to be "Central Arizona Project Act".
