Attorney, Denver Smith has requested representation for the Indians because citizens along the Pine and Piedra Rivers have applied to the court of adjudication of their water rights. Apr. 12, 1902 Smith, Joseph 0., Agent, So. Ute Agency Letter to A. T. Sullenberger, Pagosa Junction, Colorado Smith responds the Sullenberger's request to purchase timber from Ute allotments. The request is denied, unless the timber is cut for the actual purpose of better adapting the lands to agriculture. Feb. 21, 1903 (?), Pegosa Junction, Colorado Letter to J. O. Smith, Agent Writer sends purchase estimate of timber on 18 allotments to agent for his review. Person would sell timber and proceeds would benefit the Indians. July 24, 1903 Jones, W.
