Show Military Relations - 512 July 12, 1884 Sofftle, Christian, Sgt., Company B, 22nd Infantry Letter to Warren Patten, Indian Agent, So. Ute Indian Agency Sofftle informs Patten he has taken five Ute Indians into his custody in order to return them safely to the Reservation. He believes they were involved in " the trouble with the cattle men near Blue Mountains." FRCD/ RG 7 5 July 23, 1884 Hall, R. H., Major Commanding, Fort Lewis, Colorado Telegram to Warren Patten, So. Ute Agent, Ignacio, Colorado Hall informs Patten that on the July 15th So. Utes, under Mancas Jim, were engaged in a battle with troops near the Colorado River.
