These include appropriations for supplies, agency employee wages, and water rights. Statutes at Large Dec. 21, 1901 Smith, Joseph 0., Agent, So. Ute Agency Letter to E. M. Cranston, U. S. Attorney, Denver Smith has requested representation for the Indians because citizens along the Pine and Piedra Rivers have applied to the court of adjudication of their water rights. Jan. 2, 1902 Smith, Joseph 0., Agent, So. Ute Agency Letter to Hon. Earl M. Cranston, U. S. Dist. Atty, Denver, Colorado Smith requests some compensation for Mr. Melville, the attorney he hired to represent the Utes in current water adjudication hearings before Cranston was put on the case. Jan. 23, 1902 Smith, Joseph 0., Agent, So. Ute Agency Letter to E. M. Cranston, U. S. Dist. Atty, Denver Smith relays to Cranston the work that has already been done by Mr. Melville in the adjudication of water rights. Sept. 22, 1902 Smith, Joseph 0., Agent, So.
