Price, commissioner of Indian Affairs Patten informs the commissioner that the Utes are killing and eating their sheep because they are not supplied with sufficient beef. The Agency opposes the killing of the sheep because the flocks are to be increased, but Patten acknowledges that the Indians have not received enough beef and that their supply will be reduced even further. Teller, Secretary of Interior Patten informs the secretary that he is unable to determine to whom the Ute Indians sold their sheep. The Indians are satisfied with the trade they made.
