Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs The superintendent describes living conditions on the reservation and explains the difficulty in trying to motivate the Indians to work for their rations. He recommends that rations and annuities continued to be disbursed without the work requirement as the Indians have responded to the work plan with the remark " we dont want to work for what the government owes us and are not going to." Ute Agency Letter to Commissioner of Indian Affairs The superintendent informs the commissioner that many Indians do not live on their allotted lands, so he suggests that these lands be sold and land of better quality be purchased.
