Liquor is easily purchased and there is a Temperance Legion at the school. June 17, 1906 Jackson, Harry, Durango Board of Trade Letter to Wm. D. Leonard Invites Ignacio Indian School to join Durango July 4th celebration with free tickets to the " Great Stadium Circus." June 28, 1906 Leonard, Wm., Supt., So. Ute Agency Letter to Geo. P. Steele, Chairman, Entertainment Committee, B. P. O. Elks, Denver Leonard outlines the stipulations of an agreement allowing Utes to travel to Denver for an encampment. Each Ute must be paid $ 5 and all expenses paid. June 28, 1906 (?), Supt., So. Ute Agency Letter to Geo. P. Steele Will endeavor to send fifteen Indians to camp at City Park in Denver and gives requirements for doing such. Sept. 13, 1906 Leonard, Wm., Supt., So. Ute Agency Letter to Chas. Craig, Colorado Springs Leonard stipulates the conditions of agreement for Utes to participate in an exhibition (?). They are each to receive $ 5 and have all expenses paid. Even so, he warns Craig, the Utes may choose not to go, as they are quite independent.
